Connection between Pearl and the article

Distraught over money, man kills family, himself - Los Angeles Times

According to this article, it states that a berkely man distraught over family financial problems fatally shot his wife, and two young children before turning the gun on. I think that this article is related to John Steinbeck's Pearl because Kino was also blinded by wealth to make a wrong decision. He knew that his family was more important then a pearl, but his first priority eventually became the pearl, which means family. The guy mentioned in the article also have been blinded by his finacial problem, and chose that over his family. I think that by the fact they were both blinded by wealth was the fact that made connections between the novel 'Pearl' and this article.

What tone is this?

As Richard tore out his brand new 'Yu Gi Oh' card deck, something unbelievable has happened. It was so shocking that he had to rub his two big eyes several times. There were no useful cards in the deck. His precious one dollar has been taken by the evil seller for nothing. He cried out for his money back shouting with feeling of despair. As he torn his cards apart, his mind was full of unhappiness. I wish this has never happend to me, he thought. Only if he was able to go back to time.

Charmander, the strongest pokemon I have ever made with a level of 17 was my last hope to win to bet. As I summoned him out of my pokeball, my opponent shuddered with a great fear and decided to summon the strongest pokemon he had.
"I bet you didn't know I had this pokemon. Its the mighty Pickachu!"
As he summoned the monster, my pokedex automatically opened and showed me the description of Pikachu. It's level was 18 which was higher than me. But that wasn't the only problem I had! Its type was an Electric which was able to make a great damage to fire pokemon like mine. I was worried. I have bet a bag of chips which was everything to me, and I couldn't afford to lose my only chips. So I decided to attack him first. But missed! I made a great sigh with feel of despair and hoped pikachu would fail. 'Oh no! Its now his turn to attack me". Right after he has realized my shot was a failure, he smiled silently, and attacked my charmander with the strongest skill availiable.

I think that this song is related to happiness, wealth, ambitions in this world. First, their lyrics start with a little kid asking why people are so cruel and heartless. They state all the misfortunes that exsist in this world. Then lastly, they ask questions to God. Where is the Love? I think this reflects very well about the world that we currently live in and how these acts are related to the happiness, wealth, and ambitions that exsists in this world.

1. How do you feel?



I feel great! As most of you know, 259 million dollars is an astronomical amount of money for an individual to own. I would be able to do almost anything that I would want to such as buying a nice house, games, etc.



2. What's going through your mind?


If I ever get 259 million dollars, I would make a list of things to buy in my brain. I would think about how happy I will be by spending those money, and enjoy. I won't probably think about helping others in the first place.

3. What will you do with the money?

First, I would buy everysingle thing that I have ever wanted such as an electronic guitar, video games, my own TV, and a brand new ipod. I would also buy Yui from 'AfterSchool'.

4. Do you think you will change? How?

I think I will change in a bad way. I would become more egocentric, and arrogant. I will think that I am suddenly better than others and treat them unfairly. Money will bring me a desire to get something better, and ruin my personal relationship with others.

Think about a person who you met who left an impression on you (much like Effie left an impression on Neil). Tell a story about this person on your blog. Try to use a combination of direct and indirect characterization. Please also use figurative language at least three times.

1. Lots of people in my life had made major impacts on my life. But if I have to choose one person that made a most contribution to my life, I would say that Mahatma Gandhi is that person. He was very skinny and short. He liked to make his own clothes, and he really looked like a normal person you can find easily. Even though he wasn't as physically strong as Bruce lee, and tall as Michael Jordan, his thought was as deep as the Pacific Ocean, and his love toward humanity was as mighty as battleship. He has devoted his life for the independence of his country, India. As I read biography, I realized how great he was and that his idea of freedom and justice was impeccable. Finally, I think that the reason I respect him is because of his love toward humanity, justice, and freedom.

Clue 5

1. Most people consider focusing on one thing hard. In my opinion, theme for 'About Effie' is quite simple. I think that theme of 'About Effie' is Patience. Just like Effie was waiting for 'Him', you need to be patient and wait for something to happen and work on it. In class, we also made some connections to the Christians. We patiently wait for God to come to this land, and wait for him to forgive our sin and lead our way to the future.

2. Psalm 37:34 Wait for the LORD's help and follow him. He will honor you and give you the land, and you will see the wicked sent away.

I chose this verse because it also tells us the importance of patience.

1. Who is Effie waiting for? Effie is waiting for 'Him'. The person that she has been waiting for a very long time. When Neil first met her, he knew that Effie was very unusual. Neil also mentioned that Effie described 'Him' as a mysterious person who only comes when there's a thunder, lightening, and music altogether. We don't really know who he is, since the author didn't mention much about him. I think that author wants us to think about 'Him'. He wants the reader to question who 'Him' is and adopt their predictions into the story.

"She just called him "him," and sometimes it was even "they," as if there were a thousand of them or something."
- I think that this might represent a Holy Trinity. Father, son and a spirit.

"Whoever he was, he surely was coming."
- This reminded me of a Messiah. God told us that someday, our savior will come down to Earth and forgive us from our sin.

"There has to be thunder, or he won't come."
- This also reminded me of Jesus. Thunder usually means something very significant, powerful. I think that the author has used thunder to our hope and sincerity toward God. What author is trying to say is that strong will of ours will bring Jesus come down to this world.

3. Yes. I think that you don't have to be a Christian to understand the world of God and spread out his teaching. If you read the bible verse above, you can see that contents of that verse is that wait for the lord and believe in him. Those who wait shall be rewarded. It means that if you have patience, things will work out and that you will be blessed. God teaches us components of our life such as Love, Life, Will, and many more that we consider important. Just because these stuffs were part of the Bible, that doesn't mean non-Christians should not accept it. I think that Non-Christians can also reveal the world of God by understanding the lessons that he teaches us through the Bible.

1. Who is someone that I admire? I'm 100% sure that no matter who they are, people have at least one person that they admire. The person I admire is person who have gone through all the pains and conflict not only for himself, but for the others who suffer. That Person is Gandhi. He might not be as strong as others, but he has devoted his life time for the others. He has suggested the idea of non-violence, and saved thousands of people and spread the idea and will of freedom all over the India. Even though I did not actually meet him, I admire him for his work and positive influence he made to this world. I especially admire his act of devotion, love, sacrifice, and caring to his people and to this world.



1. There are always clues and evidence in the story that leads us to the theme of the story. That’s why we are able to figure out the theme of the story simply by analyzing the plot. We know that theme is something that the author is using to communicate his idea or opinion to this world. I think that setting often tells us about the theme most. For example, if the setting of a story is something like a battlefield or a country at war, you should be able to briefly tell that theme is going to be something about the human right, death, etc. Author should be able to tell us how the character is related to the theme using components such as their personality, and character traits. Characters are one of the main factors that help us to identify the clue.

2. It is pretty obvious that every single component leave clues about the theme or the moral of the story. I believe that the main characters of the story shape the theme with their action and ideas. If there are no characters in the story, there won't be any story. Because characters help us define the story itself. Also, there without characters, there would be no themes, ideas, or morals without a character, because those ideas aren't physical and without character's personal opinion or thought, it would be impossible for us to define the exact theme or the moral of the story.

3. I think that the strongest settings I have encountered in my own life were United States. Even though I wasn't very familiar in the first place, I think that place has made a most impact on my life. In my personal opinion, if God did exist, he has sent me to America on Purposes, because I was able to come to TCIS because I have lived in America and learned about their culture and their language there. Therefore, I was able to learn about the Christian’s perspective at TCIS. In other word, God led me to this school.

Reader's Response 'Two Kinds'

1. Just like Jing Mei, We have lived in America.

My personal perspective: I personally thought that this story was very unique compared to the other short stories I have read before. It is because her life and her view of the world was almost as same as my idea. She thinks that she is not a genius and that if she cannot succed, it isn't worth trying. I also used to think the same way. When my mom decided to teach me math when I was young, I hated it, because I knew I wasn't very good at math and nothing seemed to be improving as I studied math. I was very upset due to the fact that all my time and hard work was for nothing. I also complaint and get mad at my life if things didn't turn out the way that I have wanted. I think that this story is almost identical to the childhood that I had as a elementary school kid. Also, story was very easy to understand because every event was very clear. I was able to see wheter it was the climax


My personal perspective:Well, this story was pretty funny to me. I know, funny isn't really the first adjective that comes to mind when thinking of "Two Kinds", but it was to me. It was, because these thoughts that kept running through Jing-Mei's mind, were identical to mine. She kept thinking "I'm not a genius, I can't do this, so I might as well not try," and my thoughts are "I'm not good at this, why am I doing it?" There are really sometimes when I think this. I'm not quite at giving up, but still, it was so funny to me how I could connect so well with a character's feelings. "Two Kinds" is a story about a girl and her mother. The mother wanted her daughter to become a prodigy, to become famous, but the girl gave up trying, thinking that she couldn't be anyone else but herself. And eventually, her mother gave up to. She started piano lessons, but then gave up on it. And years later, when she is back on the piano her parents had bought, she realizes she had a natural talent. It was just that she never cared enough to try. It was a good story; the rising action added to the conflict and it was sad reading the climax scene. I was shocked she could take the feelings in my head and carry them out to that extreme extent. But this story was a very interesting one that I won't forget.

1. A literary theme is an idea about us that the author is trying to express to the readers through the text. But it is slightly different from the idea because the idea that they are trying to tell us aren’t always literal. You have to figure out what it actually is by analyzing the story of the text. This literary theme is infinite. Everybody should be able to make different connections based on their personality, life experience, etc. These are three statements that I will use as an example. Nothing lasts forever, pen is stronger than sword, and How you live makes who you are.

2. The theme of my life would be this. “Success comes from failure”. The reason that this is my theme is because every single time I have tried something before I worked on it, I failed. For example, I failed on my first practice meet at the cross country. My time for 5k run was miserable compared to my peers, and I was dissatisfied with what I have done. So I worked on it to get better. Now that I am 9th grader, I again joined the cross country team and checked my time. It was reduced by five minutes. From that point, I knew what they exactly meant by practice makes it perfect. You cannot succeed without failing (practicing).

3. It might be different compared to other’s opinion, but I would say that theme of God’s plan for this world would be “Have faith in God, and you will be rewarded”. In this world, lots of terrible thing that made us despair and miserable. Every time such tragedies happened, people blamed god for their misfortune. But through holy bible, God has told us that Jesus has saved us from our sin by his sacrifice, and that he will give us a life of eternity. If you read the bible, you can notice that he tries to mention this theme from the beginning of the Genesis. So the conclusion is that if we believe in him, no matter what happens to us, he will give the life of eternity. You will become children of God and you will live happily ever after loving him.

1. If you want to find the theme in a story first, you have to read the text. Then, you have to analyze the story. For example, settings, what characters do, what they say and how they think. Through analyzing these components, you will be able to find out how author thinks and acts toward his or her belief. Also, I think that character makes most influence on the theme of the story since everything is based on that certain person. Lastly, you need to take out all the ideas that I have mentioned above and briefly conclude a theme of the story.

2. I say that the theme of ‘The Utterly Perfect Murder’ is that nothing lasts forever. As you know, on the beginning of the story Doug suddenly remembers Ralph bullying him and ruining his reputation during his childhood in his 40th birthday. He decides to kill Ralph due to all the embarrassment and sorrow he had gone through. When he visits Ralph and put his hand on his pistol, he is shocked. He realizes that Ralph looks much more miserable than him and that this misery started when he moved away. He isn’t mad at Ralph anymore. He is sorry that he left Ralph and made him miserable, and at the end, he decides not to kill Ralph. This clearly shows that his feeling toward Ralph had dramatically changed. Through this you can see that something changed.

3. Moral of a story is same thing as a lesson of a story. It is what you learn after reading the text. It teaches you something that you can understand from life. But theme is different. It sometimes doesn't teach you stuff. Unlike theme, for moral, you don't need to analyze the texts to figure out the lesson. It usually describes the moral literally during or at the end of the story. Moral usually shows what we are supposed to do to fit in and become a good person. But theme, it just shows what exsists in this world. In conclusion, I would say that moral tell us what to do and teach us something that can lead us to a good person, while theme just express what that is. Moral is the unchanging truth when theme is someone's thought toward something.

4. I think it is, because what this verse is saying is that God has given us Jesus so he can sacrifice for our sin. For people who have gratefully accepted His forgiveness, they will be saved and live a life of eternity, while people who has abandoned him will not be saved. This might relate to the truth we might find in literature. ‘There is no such thing as free ride’. Just like Jesus has sacrificed for us, we should have faith in him, and appreciate him for what he has done for us. We get from what we give. Also, sacrificing for the others is one of the most common conflicts or climax you can find in a book (or movies :]). People usually consider that making decisions for others hard. I think that this is why it is one of the most common conflicts you can find. I think that this is how John 3:16 makes connection with the literature and themes.

1. Metaphor is a figurative language which you adopt and compare something that can not literally make sense. Simile is also a form of figurative language that you compare using terms such as 'Like','As', etc.

1. Author uses figurative language quite often in a text. To a beginner reader, it might be very frustrating and confusing in the first place, but I say that people use figurative language because it is sometimes fancier and more beautiful then literally describing every word you write. Readers want the text to be interesting, inspiring, and beautiful. One way to gather their attention is to use the figurative languages. But one thing about using a figurative language requires you a strong sense of imagination. They give us the picture of what is happening inside the scene with great details. Therefore you will be able to pay more attention to all the expressions and beauty that he is trying to tell us.

4. There are lots of verses that use metaphors to express God’s thought and ideas. Since I am not a Christian, I did not really know until I have actually read a holy bible. This bible verse is the very first verse of the book of John. John was a famous Baptist during his time. This verse shows the meaning of holy trinity and how it works throughout our everyday Christian life. It says that ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God’. In this verse, it says that before anything was created, there was a word and it also says that word was god. Since word was there before the creation, God was also there when he created the world. From Google, it says that Holy trinity was the relationship between three things, Holy Spirit, Father and lastly the son. So the Holy Spirit has existed when the world was created, God was the father, and lastly the son is Jesus, who is a son of god. This verse basically describes the relationship between Jesus, God, and us.

1.What is beauty?

What is beauty? I think beauty is an idea. Just like everyone has different opinion on certain idea, the concept of beauty can change in many different way. For example, your culture can be one factors of how you accept something as beautiful thing. There is no such thing as an ideal beauty since everyone doesn't agree with the others. A person can be beautiful, cars can be beautiful, and even music can be beautiful. Even though we all pursue for the ideal beauty of ourselves, you will never be able to, because beauty is all about what you think it is.

1. Reader Response analysis is when there is a detailed connection and interaction between the text (BOOK) and the reader. From the powerpoint that Ms.Lilo showed us during our class time, It says that Literature doesn't really have a meaning and reader is the one who is making the true meaning of the text. Since People can never be the same, They might have a different perspective toward certain ideas or object. They could connect the events that occur inside the story and make connection with their own experience and make their own meaning! It might sound very surprising to you, but everytime you read something, you always make connection to something that you have experienced. For example, If you are reading about scene where group of people bullies others, you will picture the scene of your friends (IM NOT TELLING YOU WHO THEY ARE ) making fun of others or one of the people that you personally dislike. Skilled readers not only understand the theme or plot of the story, but they are also able to make connections and interpret their own meanings into the text throughout the process of reading.

2. Reader Response to the text can open your eyes to more truth as we read. Making connection requires an excellent understaning of the plots, themes, and all the other elements that exist in the text. As you make more connection throught the story, you will be able to learn and realize many things. For example, When you are reading while you listen to exciting rock band such as GREEN DAY (THE BEST), you won't really have a clue of what the theme or plot is. You will barely remember the events that happened, and you will have to read the text again to fully understand the story. This is why you shouldn't have anything that can disturb you during reading. Making notes, making connections, summarzing the main points and all the other stuff will not only help you understand the author's intention, but it will also be able to help you find something that only you can find. For instance, you might discover something about yourself that you quiet haven't noticed before by making connections with the characters in the text, and you might also be able to realize how certain reactions toward others can affect them. If you are able to fully connect yourself and the text, you will be able to find something that no one else can find. something about YOURSELF.

3. All of my English teachers used to say that making connections and interacting with the texts were very important? When I first heard about it, I thought it was really silly. Why would you make a connection for something that completely has nothing to do with you? It is because if you do not make any connections or interact, you will simply get nothing out of reading that book, which will become a waste of time. The reason you read a book is to gain knowledge, to understand how that book is connected to your life and try to make your life better. If you read something only with the literate meaning of the text, you will never be able to understand author's true intention. Also, it is harder for you to understand the text if you do not make any connections. For example, Bob gets an 'A' on the test, and he is extremely happy. You know that he is happy because you have also gotten an 'A' (or 'B') before and know how it feels like when you have achieved something that not every people can achieve. Even if you dont have a solid ideas of what connection is, you are always making connection somehow. You just need to find where and you will be able to become a succesful reader.

4. Few months ago, I read a novel called 'The Stranger' by Albert Camus. When I was about to read the book, my teacher had told me that this book was about something called 'existentialism'. But I really didn't clearly get the meaning of the story until I read it the second time. The book is about a person called 'Mersault' ruining his life by unintentionally killing Arab. He is sentenced to death, and tell the reader at the last page that he had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of his execution and that they greet him with cries of hate. Just by reading this, you should be able tell that he is somehow abnormal. He seems that he doesn't have something that everybody else has. EMOTIONS. What he has done made him a stranger of the society. I think that the theme of the book that Camus is trying to tell the reader is that society often misinterprets those who do not fit in. Due to those misinterpretations, society condemns, persecutes, and isolate these misunderstood group of people. BE NICE TO WANGDDAS (OUTCAST).

The Utterly Perfect Murder and the Revenge

I think that th 'Utterly Perfect Murder' is going to be about the best way to kill someone without any sign of the evidence. Maybe the plot of the story will me about a smart killer planning a homocide. The story might be telling us how the killer killed people and got away with it without any doubts from the police, or people around him. I think that this story has to do with the retribution that the main character is planning, since you mentioned and told us to write about the personal experience of revenge. :)

About a year ago, Josiah called and asked me if I wanted to play BB guns together. I said yes because i thought it would be a fun activity to do. I took my BBgun from my closet, took a cab and met my friends. I even saw Mr.Larry preparing to play the game. We started the game as soon as everyone showed up, and game was pretty fun until something horrible happened. Caleb shot my wrist with his pistol. Even though I coudn't feel any pains from the shot, It was so strong that it started become red and started bleeding. I knew it wasn't a big deal and was going to end up as a small scar that you can barely see. But I was mad. Something had to be done, which was being equal. As soon as the new game started. I ran sneaky and approached to Caleb, who was the only I could see. I took my gun out, aimed at his head, and shot it. Missed. I tried and tried until I actually shot him, and ended up shooting his leg, with no marks on his skin. As I think of the events now, it sounds pretty stupid, but that time I guess I really was mad at him for shooting me in my wrist. :)

Book Connection : The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

I read the book called 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas', and made a connection to myself with the main character of the stoy, 'Bruno'. He moves near the concentration camp due to his father's promotion who is a Nazi officer. He later realizes that concentration camps were where Germans had jailed the Jews, he tries to help the people in the concentration camp. I would say this has happened to me once too. One day, Me and my family had gone out to L.A Downtown to shop and eat Lunch, when we visited the restaurant, I saw a very strange looking guy. Homeless person. He was looking for something edible inside the trashcan digging out all the trash people threw away. The scene was so vivid and shocking, I felt both disgusting and pitiful toward the homeless man. When I asked my dad who he was, and what he was doing, he suggested me not to go near him. But unlike my dad, my mom took out a five dollar bills out of her wallet and gave it to me saying, " I hope this is going to help him". I was first afraid that he might mistreat me. But few minutes later, I ran out of the restaraunt, hoping that this five dollar will make his day hopefull. But he was gone. I searched for him for about five minutes, but there was no sign of him.

I think that both Bruno and me had a compassion toward the others who weren't as blessed we were and tried to help them. Even though both of us weren't succesful at what we were trying to do, I say that the motivation itself was very important and thoughtful.

Bible: John 1:1-18 (New International Version)

I would say that this is the rising action of Christ's life. In this bible verse, they suggest that Jesus is equivalent to God, because he is a son of God, and that he has also been part of the creation of the world. In this bible verse, John explained to his people that Jesus was the light. But he wasn't. Even though he came down to this world to take care of us and forgive us for what we did, most of us did not accept him for what he was and ignored him. But few people who believed in Christ accepted him as their light, understanding and following god, recieving eternity and salvation from him. All these details that I have summarized from this bible verse explains that even though he has come to save us, he has been rejected by the world, and he teaches about god to few people who has accepted him as a son of god. In my opinion, John tried to explain how Jesus was the solution to our problem(sin). Therefore, I think that this verse is about the rising action of the Christ's life.

1. Exposition is the part where the story starts. They tell us all the facts that we need to know to understand the story such as character, setting, and the brief explanation about the main conflict they are going to face later. In rising actions, the conflicts in the story gets bigger and bigger which automatically leads to the climax where the argument becomes the conflict. This point it is more likely that the protagonist of the story might change internally, and make a diffucult choice. In falling actions, all the problems are solved and things starts to get back to its normal life. and lastly, resolution is the ending of the story which concludes the final statement of the story.

2. Stories need to be structured. It is not only to make things nice, but it is also to make the stories clear so readers can actually understand the situation. first, opening of the story, which is the exposition need to be brief and interesting so reader will draw their attention about what is going on. In the climax, the conflicts and the conflicts and problems should be at the peak with lots of exciting events. Falling action is where the author concludes reasonable ending or some clues for the next story. If the stories aren't structured into parts that i have mentioned before, there will be a huge confusion. If the stories end at the middle of the excitement, it will dissapoint the readers, and even make them unclear about the ending. people seem to be more confident when they have better understanding at something than to have no clue about what is going on. So if you make the story you wrote unclear, the whole thing will be a big mess and a failure.

3. To be honest, I did not expect or predict to see something exciting to happen from the start. I had no clear idea about what this story was about the first time i read it. So I had to read it again. The second time, I thought i was gaining some kind of theme of this story which i thought appeared the most at the climax when Lizabeth deliberately hurts Lottie. When she saw that lottie was standing next to her and felt the compassion, she knew she wasn't innocnet anymore. I say that what I realized the most when I have analyzed and reread the story using the structure of the plot graph, is about how she realized the meaning of compassion and knew that she has lost her innocence forever.

4. I think that theme of the story is that losing innocence and learning and feeling what compassion is the turning point of the child to an adult. Once you learn what compassion toward others and to yourself is, you will become mature, but your innoncence will be gone forever. Children tends to be less thoughtfull then the elders, they are to do something that others consider rude and pointless. Innocence not only means pre-mature, but it can also mean not being able to understand the other's thought, idea. So you probably won't be able to have both innocence and Compassion at the same time. I think that structure of the plot graph has shown a clear change from Lizabeth being a innocent child to an adult with compassion at the climax of the story. She was upset and destroyed what lottie considered beautiful and important. After she has destroyed the marigold, she realizes that she has done something wrong and gain compassion toward Lottie. I think this was the climax and the theme of the story since it was one of the biggest conflict and event that have occured in this story; You will gain compassion when you lose the innocence.

Collier mentions that she only remembers part of her childhood. I also sometimes remember the scene of the exact moment, just like a photo. I mostly cannot remember the full story of my childhood.

Collier mentions that lizabeth had a brother who was very playful and enthusiastic. I also have a younger sister who enjoys playing outside and to do dangerous stuff.

Collier metions that lizabeth had always gone to special spot which was under the great oak tree in our yard. I also had enjoyed going under the trees that was at my backyard, and spent my time reading and playing with my friends there.

Collier mentions that lizabeth and his friends were always scared and made fun of lottie who was a town outcast. We also have avoided scary and stubborn looking people when we were playing outside.

Collier mentions that Lottie had something that everyone considered beautiful on her backyard. It was Marigold. When I was 2nd grade, i also enjoyed planting tulips and herbs at my yard giving them water and watching them grow everytime.

Collier mentions that Lizabeth had thrown a pebble at lottie's marigold because her friends forced her to. I also have done something that was not right due to peer pressure when i was young.

Collier mentions that Lizabeth and her friends were proud of what they did at the lottie's garden. When I was young, me and my friends used to go to out neighbor's house and shoot watergun at their windows. Even though we knew that it was a wrong thing to do, we felt so proud and exciting after.

Collier metions that Lizabeth had secretly heard her parent's conversation pretending that she was sleeping. I also have overheard my parents arguing about something when i was young even though i didnt exactly know what they were talking about.

Collier mentions that Lizabeth had escaped the house without her parents knowing during night. Few years ago, i also have escaped the house through windows during night, because i was upset and wanted to be alone at some place with no one bothering me.

Collier mentions that Lizabeth couldn't control her anger and started destryoing the flowers that lottie cared. Even though she has done that on purpose, lottie forgave her because she knew that lizabeth has been emotionally damaged. I also once was upset and damaged someone else's property. but he forgave me because he knew that i was in trouble.

Plot Assigment :)

Exposition: I enjoy golfing. Even though I'm not a professional golfer with fantastic golfing skills, i have practiced daily to become better at what i was doing. This story happened about two years ago. I have been playing golf for two years and i have never felt so excited, because It was the 'End of the year junior tournament day' sponsored by the golf club that i attended to practice and learn golf. I arrived at the golf club four hours before the game started but I was worried that four hours just wasn't enough for me to win this tournament. I dashed into the cashier and paid 30 dollars which was required to join this tournament. On my way out, I saw the trophy, seems as it was waiting for me to take it. It made me happy just by staring at it. Finally, I promised myself that I would win this tournament.

Rising Actions: It was time. Everyone was waiting for the coach to show up and check the attendace. I said hi to few of my friends and started to swing the club hoping to make a good shot in the start. the coach came and announced the start of the game. I waited and waited. Few minutes later, it was my turn. I anxiously stepped into the teeing ground and wished myself luck. I took a deep breath took my back swing, and hit the golf ball as soft as i could. I closed my eyes and hoped it was at least an acceptable shot. I opened my eyes and next thing i saw was my orange golf ball lying on a putting green. 'It was a pretty decent start' I whispered to myself as i was walking toward my ball, Even though i had known that there were 17 holes left to go.

Climax: I was doing pretty good with the decent scores until the 8th holes came to me. I swung my club as hard as I could thinking i was the one with the lowest score. As my club made contact with the ball something terrible happened, I have accidentally twisted my body. the ball started rolling all the way and I finally lost track of it. 'Why is this happening to me?' I blamed myself for making such a big mistake during this important moment and started strolling down to the green with my whole body wrinkled like a rock. I looked and looked but there was no sign of my ball. I sat down next to my tree and sighed wishing for my ball to appear right infront of me. Then my friend, William came to me and said, "Hey, WonJoon you have to check this out! Come with me!" I stood up and started running with him hoping that it was somekind of a good news for me. and guess what? I couldn't find my ball was because I have just made a Hole In One!

Falling Actions: After I have made my first Hole in One in my life, everything seemed to be going in a straight forward direction. Nothing seemed to block my way and I was making par everyhole i went. But at the end I made a mistake which gave me an extra 4 points which dragged me down to the 6th place.

Resolution: I have not won the tournament because of the 18th hole. But I not only have gotten a special prize for making a hole in one, but i was also very proud of myself with the unusual achievemet I have made today. Even though I couldn't keep the promise I made to myself at the beggining, but I knew that this tournament is something that I could never forget.

"My Self as a Reader"

What were the last five things i have read was Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, Animal Farm by George Orwell, The Stranger by Albert Camus, and Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Elizabeth Taylor.

I generally consider reading as my hobby, and i usually like to read historical/political fiction and Science Fiction. I think Imagination and interesting plot is one of the most important quality that writer should have, so i usually enjoying reading good science fictions that totally doesnt make sense or historical or political fiction with exciting plot.

I usually read only at home after lunch or dinner. I dont listen to music or anything when i read because it usually distracts me (unlike some people...) and i dont usually take book when i go some place. I don't have any special things going on while I read, and reading is one of my favorite activity.

I don't think orginal work of literature shouldn't be made into movies because most of the time, movies fail to deliver the ideas or concepts that author mentions in their orignal work. For people who only watched the movie verison of the work might misjudge the work negatively and ruin the reputation of the work. So unless movie is as good as the original work, i say that books shouldnt be made into movies.
